Hello! Well, wouldn’t you know it? It’s March already! Punxsutawney Phil declares spring is to come early, and all we can say is: Whoop-de-woo! Good on you, Phil! We spent a good amount of time in the tropics during the coldest months of winter, and we are having withdrawal symptoms. We absolutely cannot wait to say good-bye to winter! And since we are in the mood for celebrating, we would like to share with you this celebration.

Congratulations to the Tran family!

Sandy + Peter | Chinese Tea Ceremony

It’s always fascinating to see the different wedding traditions of different cultures. We went up north to sunny Sacramento
to photograph Sandy and Peter’s  traditional tea ceremony. The tea ceremony is a significant piece of tradition in Chinese weddings.
During the ceremony, the bride and groom shows gratitude and utmost respect to their parents and elders by serving them tea.
In turn, the bride and groom will receive red envelopes and gifts to symbolize good luck. Seeing many unconventional, modern weddings nowadays,
keeping traditions like this is like a breath of fresh air.

Sangeet Night

As we walked into the event we couldn’t help but notice the elegant, colorful tapestry hanging from the ceiling and the beautifully decorated room already filled with Arin’s loved ones. In the center laid a traditional decorated rug where the women gathered to start their henna art tattoo. One by one the artist finished quickly, this traditional art work done on their hands was such a sight to see. It was unbelievable how intricate the henna designs were yet she made it look quite easy. After the soon-to-be-bride finished her art on both hands and feet, the engagement ceremony started… we knew we were in for a treat!
This special Sangeet night was full of laughter, traditional rituals and dancing, lots of it! enjoy xo
